Day 4 - McManus Lake to Home

Packed up on McManus LakeThe wind was strong enough last night that I got up to check the canoe and tie it off to a tree. It is turned over against the bank, but a strong enough wind can flip a canoe easily enough so it is best to tie it off too.

We got up about 8am this moring, got the coffee started and then started packing up. The fruit dumpling takes a while to cook, so we had the gear packed up and the tent down by the time it was One more stop at the rapids for a few last castsready.

It's 9:44am now and we just need to do the dishes so we can finish packing up the kitchen and get going.

We were on the water about 10:30am and headed up to fish the rapids for about 1/2 an hour. It was non-stop Smallmouth for about 15 minutes and then nothing. Take out on McManus Lake

We trolled our way back down McManus starting about 11am. Peter was using a Brown Trout Rapala which is the pattern that Scott caught his trophy sized Smallmouth on up in Mink Lake a few years ago. I was using a blue and orange Blue Fox diver. Neither lure paid off today and we were back at the take out by Noon.

We had the truck packed up, filmed the final bits of video and Packing up the fishing rodswere on the road at 12:53pm. We stopped in Petawawa for a sub and then headed back to the cottage. Made it back to the cottage by 4:15pm which gave me time for a couple of hour break, including supper, before starting the drive home since I was still stuck having to work the next day.
