Paddling the Grand River: A Trip-Planning Guide to Ontario's Historic Grand River

by Staff of the Grand River Conservation Authority

If you live in southern Ontario then you probably already know that the Grand River is the largest watershed in the region. That means that it grows into a wide scenic river as you move downstream making it ideal for day trips and even the occasional over night trip. Paddling the Grand River provides detailed information for every section of the river from Belwood Lake on down. This includes providing a list of access points with GPS coordinates and marking the hazards both on the maps and on aerial photos.

Plastic or aluminum canoes are recommended on the upstream sections, but as you move downstream to Paris and below the river becomes more welcoming to composite and wooden canoes.
